Last Friday of Every Month Macomb Critical Mass Bicycle Ride
The Critical Mass Bicycle Ride is a 30 minute leisure ride that takes place the last friday of every month, all year round. Cyclists meet at the fountain in Chandler park at 5:30pm. Everyone is invited. For more information, check out http://critical-mass.macomb.com
Third Tuesday of Every Month Macomb Area Association for the Visually Handicapped Meetings
Every third Tuesday of the month, the Macomb Area Association for the Visually Handicapped meets at 2pm at Wesley Village. No reservations are needed, the meetings are open to the public.

Free Blood Pressure Screenings
Mosaic will offer free blood pressure screenings to the public every third Tuesday of the month from 9am – 12noon at the Mosaic office in Macomb. For questions call Ron Courson at 837-5506.

May 13-17 Micro Image Exhibition
The Galesburg Civic Art Center will display miniature works of art by Galesburg High School Students Tuesday, May 13 through Saturday, May 17th. These unique works are all 2"x2" and have been collected by GHS are teacher Tom Lytle. There will be a closing reception for the exhibition on Saturday, May 17th from 5-7 pm. The reception is free and open to the public.
May 14-16 Tri-State Family Service and Chrysalis Sheparding Home Fundraiser
A benefit yard and bake sale for the Tri-State Family Service and Chrysalis Sheparding Home will be held on Thursday, May 15 from 7am-5pm and Friday, May 16 from 7am-1pm at the Hancock County Extension Center in Carthage. Donations of baked goods, gently used clothing and household items will be accepted on Wednesday, May 14th from 7am-1pm at the Extension Center. This fundraiser benefits the community and the ongoing work of the ministries.

The Crossing Blood Drive
The Crossing is sponsoring a blood drive in honor of Emma Bozarth for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center on Thursday, May 15 from 3-6pm in the church hall. The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the exclusive provider of blood to the McDonough District Hospital. Donating blood is a safe and simple procedure that only takes about an hour. May 15 Lamoine Valley Shrine Club Free Screenings
The Lamoine Valley Shrine Club is sponsoring free screenings for children under 18 with orthopedic deformities, burns or other orthopedic problems. The screenings will be held on Thursday, May 15th from 1-3 pm at the Macomb Masonic Temple. The clinic is being held in Macomb to accommodate local parents or guardians of children so afflicted and seeking help. A staff will be on hand to evaluate their problem for further medical assistance at one of many shrine children's hospitals throughout the country. There is no charge for hospital care and treatment for those accepted. No appointments are necessary for this screening. For more information call 309-837-3300.
May 16 Bushnell Area Christian Women May Meeting
The Bushnell Area Christian Women are hosting their May meeting on Friday, May 16th at the Bushnell Christian Church. Continental breakfast will start at 9 am. Pastor Trish from the Bushnell Methodist Church will present a program titled "Bad Girls of the Bible" at 10 am. Babysitting will be provided and don't forget your Christian Neighborhood Cupboard items!
May 16&17 Poppy Days
It's Poppy Days in McDonough County on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17. The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary volunteers ask you to remember American war casualties by wearing a Poppy on these two days. It's a small way to show respect.

May 17 Macomb Public Library Soiree
The Macomb Public Library is hosting a soiree for girls and boys ages 5-9 on Saturday, May 17 from 3-5 pm. There will be a fancy tea party, red carpet walk with Miss Macomb, story telling, hair styling, professional photos by Shooting Stars and even a limo! Make sure to wear fancy clothes! Reservations are required. Contact the Macomb Public Library at 309-833-2714 for more information or to make a reservation.

Little Miss and Master Pageant
Registration for the Little Miss and Master Pageant ends on Sunday, May 18th! The Heritage Days Annual Little Miss and Master Pageant will be held on Thursday, June 26th at 6 pm in Chandler Park. The pageant consists of on-stage interviews and "dress-up" or "party" attire. All contestants will receive prizes from Macomb area merchants. The winners will participate in the Heritage Days parade on Saturday, June 28. The pageant is sponsored by Jayme S. Larson Academy of Dance. The dates for mandatory rehearsals are as follows:

May 19 McDonough Genealogical Society Meeting
The McDonough Genealogical Society will meet on Monday, May 19 at the Western Museum at 7 pm. The program, "Writing your Ancestor's History: A Civil War Case Study," will be given by Cathy Elias of North Carolina. This event is open to the public.

But Seriously Folks... Final Performance
Quincy Community Theatre's improvisational troupe, But Seriously Folks... will present their final performance of the season on Thursday, May 22 at 7 pm in the Laboratory Theatre. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in the QCT box office or by calling the theatre at 222-3209. As seating is limited to only 80, reservations are strongly encouraged.

May 23 Eagle View's Tee-Off For Oral Health
Golfers will have the chance to sink putts for oral health at Eagle View Health System's inaugural Four Player Scramble on Friday, May 23 at WIU's Harry Mussatto Golf Course. Registration begins at 12:30 pm with tee-off at 1 p.m. Participants will receive 18 holes of golf, riding car, meals, prizes and various awards all for only $40 per player and $160 per foursome. Proceeds from the event will help purchase a panoramic x-ray machine for Eagle View's new Macomb dental center. Space is limited to just 72 golfers (18 teams) so early registration is strongly recommended.
May 31 Prairieland Barbershop Chorus 40th Anniversary Show
The Prairieland Barbershop Chorus will hold their 40th Anniversary Celebration Show on Saturday, May 31st at 6:59pm at the COFAC Recital Hall on WIU's Macomb campus. They will be taking monetary donations at the door with all donations being used to support their mission of promoting and encouraging music programs in local schools. The Macomb High School Mens Ensemble and Relative Harmony will also be performing.
June 1 Argyle Bible Church Blood Drive
The Argyle Bible Church will be hosting a blood drive on Sunday, June 1 from 11:30am - 4pm. According to the American Red Cross, May is a crucial time for maintaining adequate emergency blood supplies. Because of the end of the school year, graduations, Memorial Day holiday and the beginning of sumer vacations, many regular donors are traveling and unable to give blood. It only takes about an hour to donate. Eligible donors muse be at least 17 years old or 16 with a signed parental/guardian consent form and weigh at least 110 pounds. June 7 "Sci" Hickenbottom Benefit
There will be a benefit for "Sci" Hickenbottom on Saturday, June 7th starting at 2pm at the Eagles Club in Carthage. There will be a hog roast with sides served at 3 pm, an auction at 4pm and music and entertainment will begin at 8 pm. The public is invited to attend.
June 12 The Elms 30th Ice Cream Social
The Elms will be holding it's 30th Ice Cream Social on Thursday, June 12 from 6:30-8pm. "Elvis" will be performing. There will also be an opening exhibit by artist David Lee Reineke of Stoner, Colorado. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under which includes ice cream, pie or cake and a beverage.
June 16 First Inaugural Ball Drop
The Macomb Area Chamber and Downtown Development Corporation is sponsoring the First Inaugural Ball Drop on Monday, June 16th at Golden Hills Golf Course in conjunction with the annual golf outing. 50/50 tickets will be available at $5 for one ball and $20 for five balls. The winner does not have to be present to win and there is no obligation to give your winnings back to the Chamber. The Ball Drop will take place directly following the dinner and prize giveaway. Non-golfers are encouraged to participate in this event. Tickets are available at the Chamber Office, from any Chamber Board of Director or any Community Leadership Academy 2008 member.
